Home Remedies for Sunburn | Top 7 Home Remedies

Sunburn is one of the most common skin problems that people typically face during summer season. Although it can happen in any season because it is the result of overexposure to harmful ultraviolet sun rays of the sun. Extensive exposure to UV lights can damage your skin and make it reddish and painful. The symptoms of sunburn may not appear immediately, it takes around five hours to appear. If you don’t take appropriate precautions on time, it can lead to further damage to your skin such as peeling, blistering and even skin cancer. The best way to avoid sunburn is prevention because prevention is always better than cure. Stay out the sun between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., when the sun is strongest. Cover your face and other body parts while going outside and apply a good sunscreen to protect your skin from sun damage. However, if you suffer from sunburn, you can try some homemade remedies that can soothe your skin and reduce inflammation.

Baking soda use baking soda for sunburn

Baking soda is one of the most effective homemade remedies that are used for several skin problems. Baking soda is alkaline in nature which helps you in soothing sunburn complication. It also has antiseptic property which helps you to provide some relaxation from burning sensation of sunburn. You need to fill your bathing tub with cool water and mix a cup of baking soda in it and stir well. Soar in the water for 15 minutes. After getting out of the bath, pat dry your body. You can repeat this activity daily until you see good results. You can also use baking soda as in the form of facial mask. Just mix 4 tablespoons of baking soda with water and apply to your skin for effective result.

Aloe Vera

You need to extract some gel from aloe leaf and apply directly to the affected parts. Allow it to be dried on its own so that the skin absorbs the beneficial properties of the aloe Vera. For good result, you can try it 4-5 times in a day.

Black tea has a wide range of antioxidants which help in treating of irritated and sunburned skin. It also maintains the pH level of the body and protects you from the damage of UV rays. Prepare a black tea and allow it to dry then soak a cotton ball in it and apply to the affected parts. Leave it until it dries completely and repeat this activity for few days until your condition improves.

Apple cider vinegar

You can use ACV in two ways by adding in bathing tub or by making a facial mask. Add one cup of ACV in bathing tub and soak in this water for half an hour. You can make a paste of ACV and water by adding equal amount of both and then apply to the affected part with the help of paper towels.

To reduce inflammation and pain associated to sunburn you can apply cold compresses on the affected area. Cold compress constricts the tiny blood vessels which in turn reduce inflammation. You need to wrap an ice cube in damp cloth and apply to the affected area for few seconds. Apply several times in a day to reduce discomfort.

Oatmeal

Regular consumption of green tea and application of green tea to the affected skin can prevent you from sunburn and skin cancer. It does not act as sunblock but it reduces inflammation caused by sunburn. Antioxidant properties of green tea help in soothing and healing the sunburn symptoms.
